I played for Coach Sutton when I was in high school at Tulsa Central. I was a shy backwards kind of kid who loved to play basketball and felt basketball was my way of becoming somebody. Coach Sutton gave me the confidence to excel. I'll never forget when he told a trainer at Tulsa University in my presence that I was his STUD Player. I can't tell you how much that meant to me to hear him say that. He always teated me special and it is because of him that I played college basketball at the University of Kansas from 1965 to 1969. I love Coach Sutton and he truly is one of the greatest basketball coaches alive and a wonderful human being. Good luck at USF coach!

I've had the pleasure to meet and visit w/Coach Sutton on several occasions and not only is he one of the greatest coaches of all time, he's a great man. Yes, he's had his difficulties, but show me someone who hasn't. At least he had the backbone to face his demons and admit to his faults. If you read what other great coaches like Roy Williams, Bobby Knight and others think of him, you'll find he's well respected. The Hall of Fame should be renamed the Hall of Shame until he is inducted. Go Eddie! Oh, and as for Kentucky, it takes longer than Sutton was there for a program to become so corrupt. It seems strange to me that he's never had any other issues with NCAA infractions....God Bless Eddie Sutton!

Eh, he's alright. Obviously he's done great things at Arkansas and Oklahoma State. Kentucky fans, don't blame him for your troubles. You guys were corrupt in the 40's, 70's, and 80's before him. I doubt he was the principle figure behind the payments, every booster in the state frothed at the mouth at the chance to buy the best players. He just happened to be at the helm when it happened.

Coach Sutton has done more for college basketball and helped more people than almost any other basketball coach in history. Iba, Wooden and Smith are the only ones I would rank higher. He has displayed nothing but integrity at every place he coached...including Kentucky where he had to take the blame for their program imploding. What a dirty program. Too bad he wasn't able to clean it up. He tried, but they weren't going to have it and he paid for that program's boosters crimes. He had problems with alcohol, but always confronted them head on and made no excuses. He is at true man of integrity who is a true hall of famer. Hopefully the voters will see it that way soon as well.

Sutton is a great coach! UK, Sutton was CLEARED by the NCAA. Your Athletic Director was FIRED!

One of the greatest coaches ever. I agree with the other post the UK people need to get over it. The NCAA did not find Eddie guilty of anything, but the AD (a UK alum) was forced to resign. He's had his problems but he should be in the Hall of Fame.

Eddie did a good job at Ok State and help make it a perenial powerhouse. He should have handed the keys to son Sean a little sooner (no pun intended). What a shame... probably cost him a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Eddie Sutton is not only one the greatest college basketball coaches of all time he is an incredible person, an awesome teacher of the sport and a very humble, kind, genuinely nice human being!

You people must be taking the same pills Eddie was when he crashed. He is a great basketball coach. Not even close to the best, he has discrased two out of three of the major colleges he has coached at and # of national championships = 0. How is he the greatest??

Why don't all of you just suck my dick!!!

Eddie Sutton is not only the greatest basketball coach of all time, but the one of the greatest people of all time. All of the UK "fans" need to get over it and look into the facts. This man has done nothing but good things for Okie State and he is a legend!

Just a note for the Big Blue Nation. UK has a long history of point shaving and recruiting scandals . Not to mention he was clean before going to UK and has been clean since. He was a creditable outsider who could be blamed for things that had been going on long before Eddie Sutton started crawling from Ala.

had the greatest job in the college basketball world and not only ruined it for himself but for the university of kentucky. once said he would have crawled to lexington from alabama for the uk job. looks like the booze got the best of him and now he remains championshipless in the middle of nowhere.
