I don't particularly care for Spanish or World music, but I do like Paco's. I have two of his CD's, "Solo Quiero Caminar" and "Siroco" which are fantastic. Like I said I'm not a fan of flamenco, but there is something soothing about his playing.

I bow to his mastery. Guitarists--especially younggins--who are NOT studying his technique are short-sheeting their careers and creativity.

wow,I liked Segovia also but pdl is in a league all his own.Loved his duo work with Dimeola(talk about 2 masters on acoustic)and his work with Mclaughlin

A superb player of Latin and flamenco styles. Ottmar Leibert, Oscar Lopez, Pavlo, Jessie Cook, The Gipsy Kings all owe him a debt of gratitude for the records he made in Spain in the 70's and for his pioneering popularization of world guitar music with John McLaughlin and Al DiMeola in the 80's. His first records have some jaw dropping fingerwork.

I am not an accomplished musician but it is safe to say, that it is humanly impossible to judge who is the greatest master of guitar. However, I feel if you have not mastered flamenco or classical you are but a mere apprentice.PDL is such an artist that will leave many red-faced after just 6-bars!

Frankly, to rate PdL less than 5 is nuts whether you like flamenco or not. FACT 1 - flamenco is the most challenging of all guitar styles FACT 2 - PdL is widely recognised as the foremost exponent FACT 1 + FACT 2 = most likely he is the best guitar player on the planet

I've never heard anyone play acoustic like this man. Andres Segovia, John McLaughlin, and John Williams come close, but I don't think they're quite there. He's by far the best on this list.

Anyone who knows anything about guitar playing a. should have listened to Paco and b. given 5 stars. He's taken flamenco to new areas and has the most mind boggling style.
