Foreman vs. Moorer (1994) 5

Give credit to Michael Moorer for standing toe to toe with the great George Foreman (though it was ultimately ill-advised). For much of this fight, Moorer was in control, peppering the old champion with right jabs and combinations. Moorer was determined, but Foreman (with bruises developing around his eyes) proved that he was still able to land that one shot to change everything. And when Foreman landed the shot heard 'round the world, he proved the naysayers wrong- and exorcised the demons which had haunted him from 'The Rumble in the Jungle' twenty years earlier (ironically wearing the same trunks that night he had worn in his loss to the Greatest, Muhammad Ali). Foreman's win was truly special, and emotional (to say the least).

A surprise only to those who were not paying attention. I won a pile of money on this fight evern though the odds were only 2 to 1. Big George did the greatest reinvention of a person since Ebenezer Scrooge. He went from a big, bad, Liston-like monster than everyone feared and very few people liked, to a lovable hamburger salesman with a heart of gold. He served as an inspiration to anyone that ever believed in him or herself and was willing to obtain their goal in spite of all the naysayers. On this night, George accomplished what he nearly had pulled off a few years earlier against Evander Holyfield. The big difference was, Michael Moorer stood and fought while Evander chose to hit and run. George was btter on that night, but on this night, he landed the big punch. The greatest moment on heavyweight history. I still get goosebumps just thinking about it.

I rember watching this at a friends apartment. He looked at me and spoke What the hell?. I bet Moorer asked himself the same question.

The fight it self was good, but the results is what makes this a classic. George Foreman recapturing the heavyweight title again after twenty years. Paving the way for the George Forman grill.

nobody knew how tough and courageous forman was until this fight. taking ungodly punishment for 10 rounds, forman breaks thru with an earth-shattering right hand and drops moorer. this and his fight with holyfield shows just how tough forman is. i would have given this fight three stars (because forman's fight finishing punch was too suprising), but i gave it four because of the storybook ending. george forman is the REAL cinderellla man (not jimmy braddock).

Proved power lasts longer than speed, and maybe some things are better the second time around. After patiently getting his butt kicked for many rounds, Foreman exorcises the ghost of Zaire with one devastating punch. If Foreman had that kind of boxing I.Q. in Zaire he'd have won, but he used what he learned in the Jungle to win. Proves George is no fool! Geo. is on the comback trail now (I disapprove), but GF knows how to pick his spots. I wouldn't bet against him. I think he also broke Jersey Joe Walcott's record that night, did he not??? Proving himself to be one of the greatest of all time.

George Foreman proved that he was the greatest heavyweight ever by stopping Michael Moorer in the tenth round in maybe the greatest comeback in history to win the WBA and IBF heavyweight titles-at age 45.
