 | dayha126 (0) 07/18/2007 | First lets start by saying that these things are disgusting. I have never seen one of these things until I visited the Embassy Suites Orlando North. My boyfriend and I were on vacation and they decided to vacation with us in our room on our second night there. He spotted the first roach on a pillow next to my head while I was taking a nap. We immediately informed the hotel manager and they moved us to another room. Prior to moving us the the night manager stated that "We have them here" refering to these disgusting vermon. As we moved to the next room we thought to ourselves does here mean...in Florida or in the Embassy Suites? We would soon find out. The next room we moved to had cleanliness issues and it seemed as if someone had just checked out of it. The hotel then proceeded to move us up the hall to another room. Here we experienced yet Another one of these flying roaches on the very last night of our vacation and his birthday in the MIDDLE OF A ROMANTIC ENCOUNTER!. Needless to say neither of us were pleased and demanded that something be done. The person that I spoke to the second time at the front desk acted as if it was not a big deal and all they could do was move us to a smoking king suite. After telling him this was not acceptable due to my allergies he brushed me off. I then asked to speak to the same manager that transferred us in the beginning. Of course she was able to miraculously pull some strings and find another room for us in what they call the "Palm Building." We were forced to pack all of our things for the third time and move to this room at about 2:00am in the morning. The underlying major issue here is that this hotel attempted to belittle our complaint and brush it off as if these "Palmetto bugs" are uncontrollable and worse tollerable. Once we left the hotel my boyfriend got in touch with the assistant general manager and he insists that these "Palmetto Bugs" are not a big deal and that a free night refund is more than sufficient for our trouble. However, we feel that our vacation was ruined due to the fact that these "vermon" were not listed on the amenities list on the hotel website. We believe that if this hotel was concerned about true customer service they would do more to correct this issue. This review is to warn all consumers that this hotel HAS and ACCEPTS the fact that they have flying roaches.

I have been through some hellish wrestling matches with those things. And don't try to spray them, they fly right at the can like Kamikazee pilots.

 | BrianS (0) 11/12/2005 | I just stumbled upon this website trying to learn information about flying cockroaches. You see, one just flew down on me while I was sitting at my computer! I have no idea where it came from. It seemed to fly down from the ceiling, perhaps through a ceiling sprinkler (I live in an apartment in central Florida). OMG that was gross. The thing was about 2.5 to 3 inches long, and seemed to have very good flying abilities. It landed on a radio on my desk. I hit it with a large towel, and it almost got behind my dresser and got away. Luckily I was able to kill and flush it. I'll be looking around for another one the entire night though.

 | Mr.Political (18) 02/21/2005 | I've only seen one of these in my life (thankfully) and it was the most terrifying insect/horrendous pest I'd ever seen. And for the record, I don't give a damn how big that bug is Trout, I can hate it just as much.

 | Enkidu (37) 05/15/2004 | We had these when I lived in Florida, and they grew to horrific size. One tripped the motion-sensor on my burglar alarm once; the guy at the alarm help desk just laughed and laughed. Oh well, I live on the other coast now.

 | lola dallas (0) 05/15/2004 | Mr Trout - size is not everything, and therefore the flying cockroach does not justify the truly exaggerated endorsement that you give to this rather unpleasant creature

 | Albert R Trout (0) 05/14/2004 | The flying cockroach is undoubdtedly a King amongst insects, and anything less than 5 stars would be an insult to this leviathan of The World of Dirt. Any creature which can survive for two weeks after losing its head has to be, at the very least, respected. The people of Florida, and any other area where a behemoth of an insect can be mistaken for a bird, should feel honoured to share the same air with these magnificent creatures.

 | kamylienne (77) 03/07/2004 | (1=EWWWW!) I never encountered these (never lived in Florida, either, though), but I think they'd be just as freaky as regular cockroaches and then some.

 | kolby1973 (32) 03/04/2004 | By far one of the nastiest insects I have ever encountered in Florida. Enkidu is totally correct....they get really big. They are just nasty and horrific...
