A dire actor (geddit?) who along with his mullet ruined what could've been a half decent franchise (Lethal Weapon) and made it into the kind of dross normally associated with Van Damme, Segal and Lundgren. Clearly as his anti Jewish rant and drink drive shenanigans show, some would say he's started to lose the plot. However watching any of his films show that he already has. Clearly he gets some kind of weird kick in depicting near naked men being tortured to death viz Passion.., Braveheart and Apocalyptica. Furthermore, he also has a penchant for making up history or omitting large chunks viz these films plus The Patriot. Here's hoping he'll get suitable treatment because he sure needs it.

As for his turns at directing, Mel Gibson only has a few films under his belt, so I can't rate him any higher than two stars at this point. Nevertheless, I'll say that "The Man Without A Face" (1983) wasn't all that memorable, but "Braveheart" (1995) was entertaining and well done for a big budget film (even if overacted at times). Obviously his most controversial production thus far was "The Passion Of The Christ" (2004), which viewers either loved or despised. As one who doesn't consider himself very religious or even spiritual, I will say that the images were very striking but sometimes excessive. Moreover, the use of Aramaic (with subtitles) evidenced Gibson's attention to detail even if many disagreed with the factual representations within the film itself.

Braveheart was a cheap rip-off of Spartacus. Didn't see the Passion.

Under rated and overlooked due to his beliefs, same thing those who overlook him jump up and down about when it happens to a director such as the likes of Mike whats his name, the fat ugly guy. Oh yeah, Moore.

Outstanding. I found it heartbreaking to watch The Passion of the Christ but it's the first time Hollywood has got the crucifixion right. I also love the diversity of Mel's career and enjoy just about every movie he produces, directs or acts in.

Awesome as actor, director, producer, whatever he wants to do!

I just saw his interview with Diane Sawyer about his Passion movie. He seemed manic. I didn't like him. And his movie doesn't explain why, politically, Christ was crucified, so I'm not going to see it.

The man can barely act, why does he think he can direct as well? What a laughingstock. People like him have to choose controversial flicks to direct in order for anyone to even pay attention...this should come to no surprise as far as Mel Gibson goes...

Innacurate portrayl of events that the pope himself has acknowledged are false. Reiteration of same insanity that has charged last 2000 years with crusades and other similar garbage. The charged comment below belies the truth. Zionists.. wtf hahaha
