I am giving this a neutral rating for now because I haven't actually tried it on my dogs. However I work in a pet store in jax, fl and sell tons of the holistic line, haven't ever had someone come back and complain about it. The ingredients aren't the best nor the worst out there. I do agree I'm tired of the price increases like many other posters. We also get samples from the supplier just like all the other brands we carry like wellness, canidae, solid gold, etc. These are FREE samples they send with our regular orders, no "cuts". It's ridiculous to assume that we get money for handing out samples. In my store we ask as many questions as possible about each dog before handing a sample to customers based on the info. So your dog got sick from it? Sorry that happened but how can you blame the store for that? No one can predict how their dog will react on a different food. So it wasn't for your dog, move on and learn better english for pete's sake! I can barely read your post, it certainly doesn't make you sound very intelligent.

I was feeding my active/working shepherd and Alaskan husky Innova Evo. I thought it was the best food money could buy and wanted only the best for my dogs. But my husky always had loose and very smelly stool on the Evo. The shepherd was fine, but she loves all food! I switched to Eagle Pack Power Formula, and my husky's stools almost immediately improved. Which is a good thing. And the price is another good thing, only $40 for 40 lbs, can't get better than that! I will probably switch to another performance dog 30/20 food once in a while to keep up the variety, but I am very happy with how they are doing on it so far. I also supplement with raw chicken, eggs and yogurt.
I've been reading some of the reviews for this food recently, and, as some people already stated, you can not attribute everything to food! Shedding, vomiting, urine crystals, all can be caused by a variety of different things, most not food (as in what you actually feed your dog, not what he picks up off the ground) related. I certainly think it's a good idea to rotate quality food. Also, the comment on dogs not eating anchovies in the wild. In Alaska or places where there are still salmon runs wild carnivores (and many sled dogs) eat salmon- lots of it and do very well. Eagle Pack is a reliable, USA based company. My dogs have done well on this food and I will continue to feed it, rotating with raw chicken, sweet potatoes, Taste of the Wild.

I stand corrected on my information that EAGLE PACK was purchased by Diamond products in Lathrop, CA.... The source that informed me of that was a "manager" at a local Pet Store here in Antioch, CA. I don't know the facts, but assume it is still being manufactured in its original location. I apologize for that misinformation... The problem I am having with Eagle, is my 16 mo old Berner doesn't like it, so he will eat the alternate food in the bowl. Basically he eats around it. Otherwise, I have to put cottage cheese, can food, yogurt, whatever and mix it in. So, the search for a good food and one that makes the dogs happy is on!

Hi my name is Cate and I am the owner of Pawlicious Pets. Before you attack me and my "pet shop" please get your facts straight first.

I actually spent alot of time with you trying to assist you in helping your gorgeous dog. I offered you a sample pack of Eagle Pack as many of my customers have had great success with the product. You made an ignorant and ill informed comment about me getting a cut from the supplier where in fact I get nothing from them. IF you owned your own business in the industry you would know that. I actually contacted Eagle Pack myself and as a nice gesture they offered sample packs to hand out to my customers.

Good luck with finding a suitable dry kibble for your dog.

I remember you and your partner well beause he seemed really nice and you were such an unattractive looking sour face and I wondered how that worked.

Have to rate this company as bad, overall. Their dry food is corn-laden, carbohydrate heavy, and contains the worthless filler beet pulp. Eagle Pack's Holistic Selects canned food is great stuff, though, with good meats and simple, wholesome formulas. I just wish the same could be said of the dry products.

Hello everyone,
First of I want to apologize to one of the people bitching about eagle
pack as I doused them with some cynical crap and frankly they do not
deserve that, I was just venting some frustration as there are so many
people who hap hazardley belch out their opinions on line with
absolutely zero regard for the company they are affecting and not
withstanding their personal experience most often are less then
clueless as to why they had this negative experience. Now while I can
say that on occasion whether it is Eagle Pack or Brand X club price
rat poison formulated dog food from China.. Our beloved pets can and
will experience negative reactions, shit happens.

But most of the time it is really not the food, I mean come on
people, given the opportunity Dogs eat everything even their own shit
and survive just fine! So when something really bad is happening like
sever bloating and hemorrhaging or a massive sudden loss of weight or
legs going numb or paralysis sets in. Consider these factors before
accusing a responsible food manufacture..Poison, human drug
consumption, mixing their medication, allergies, lime disease, etc etc
etc.. As for immediate changes like loose stool or constipation most
likely too quick a food change or perhaps an adaptation phase.

My point be responsible first to your pets and to the people your
incarcerate in public, hell next time it could be you someone is
blaming for something, think about it.

I went to the pet shop called pawlicious pet in Double Bay. The lady, Kate, gave me a sample pack of Eagle Pack Holistic Duck & Oatmeal. That is a horrible product. My pekingese is on Innova for all time. I only gave him 2 tbsp eagle pack, he diarrhea two times in a night and he vommits in every 15 minutes for 3 hrs. I can't imagine it happened in my dog. Kate told me she only got good comments from Eagle pack. That's the stuff. I'm so disappointed. Even my Vet told me that he had a few cases like that before and they all had Eagle Pack as well. That's crap rubbish ever. Feed ur dog if u wanna kill him. I would not recommend to any pet. Sucks!!! Dun trust too much pet store. They dun know what they are doing. They only recommend the product which they have a better cut.

Eagle Pack Holistic Anchovy, Sardine and Salmon is great dog food, my greyhound did really well on it. Unfortunately, they raised the price and made the bags smaller, so I switched to Costco's Kirkland Lamb & Rice (with good results). I wish I could still afford the EPH, but $$$ doesn't allow it.

I love Eagle Pack food. Well, not me personally, but our dogs do great on it. I have never had a problem of any sort with the quality of this food. However, I am a little irritated by the constant price increases. Here is another brand that sells 33 pound bags of food for quite a bit more than what you can get a similar quality 40 pound bag for, so even though I have no complaints with Eagle Pack, value wise there are foods of the same quality for less.

I have 6 dogs. I switched them about 3 months ago from Wellness to Eagle Pack Natural. After giving this food a good long trial I have found the following differences in my dogs:

They have all lost weight (not in a good way) all of the sudden I noticed they're hip points showing and they're ribs are very noticable. I kept feeding them the same amount as I did with the Wellness. Even increasing the amount of food did not help. I cannot get them to put weight on. I even wormed them all thinking the food could not possibly be that bad. One of my pugs whom is prone to allergies all of sudden started getting ear infections and nose fold infections and keeping us awake at night because of him licking himself so much (which he did not do on Wellness). My Boerboel got very bad dandruff and his coat became dull and tacky.

I should not have taken them off of Wellness. Dog food has become so expensive, it's ridiculous. This is what happens when you try to save a few bucks. I will be putting them back on Wellness.

This dog food was alife saver for us.Eagle pack Duck and oatmeal. We have 2 labrador and our 2 1/2 year old for the first 8 months of her life was bad. We tried 23 different foods from rice and chicken sweet potato and yogurt tofu and rice and lots of commercial from sensitive to the vet prescription dog food. We found this one when she was eight months old and weighed 30 pounds and we where preparing ourselves that she was not going to survive and then we found Holistic Select Duck Meal & Oatmeal Formula We feel that it saved her life. She can only eat this food no commercial treats or anything else most dogs can eat but she now at the age of 2 1/2 weighs 68 pounds and healthy.A hand full of dog food for a treat when she is a good girl makes her just as happy as a dog treat.Thank goodness for eagle pack our Molly is here and healthy

Have to say, this has been a great dog food for my Mastiffs. I feed Giant/Large Breed adult and puppy formula (regular brand) with excellent results. The pups do not have any growth issues (which can be a huge problem in giant breeds). Adults all have shiney nice coats as well. My dogs are in conformation shows as well as breeding dogs, I have not had any issue with this dog food.

I do however switch foods on my adults every 6 mos. and feed PMI Exclusive or Solid Gold Wolf King for 4 mos. before returning to Eagle Pack.

Question to people having issues with crystals in the urine, did the dog test negative for Cystnuria yet still had the crystals? Just curious.

I'm so glad this is here! We have been feeding our Lab x Ridgeback Eagle Pack since she was a puppy and we have been very happy knowing that we were giving our baby the best food possible. However, we have now been told that she has crystals in her urine and will have to put her on a special diet for dogs suseptible to UTS even though infection hasn't happened yet (thank goodness). It was the diet we had her on - the one we thought was so spectacular that we always joked that she ate better than we did.

I LOVE Eagle Pack for active Adults. I have 2 Great Danes and everyone knows how important nutrition is for Danes. They thrive on it! I fed it to my prize stud for a year but then lost my job so I had to switch to a cheaper brand. It was horrible! My pride and joy's coat went from smooth and shiny to dull and harsh. He went from 160 lbs to a measly 129 lbs. I couldn't believe it. Now I am switching back and I can't wait to see him and my female get back on track.

We have been feeding Eagle Pack (not holistic) for about 3 to 4 months now, and not only do the dogs love it, but so do we! We have 2 Great Pyrenees, (2 yrs., and a 10 month old), and they can't wait for food time! Their coats look good, eyes look bright, and they are more active than most pyrs. Please take the advice of others who have shared how to switch your dogs' food. You need to make a gradual switch, not a sudden one. Also, hot spots or itching are not necessarily issues with their food. It could be your dog is just more prone to having them. All I know, is that our dogs LOVE this stuff. We switched from Canidae. For whatever reason, when we started them on Canidae, they loved it, then they started having loose stools, and just acting kind of droopy. We have not had that problem with Eagle Pack, and we can find it at more stores!

I heard such great things about Eagle Pack Holistic from the Great Dane Lady and ordered the package from a partner site. I've even purchased the kibble from online retailers and driven miles to purchase from a pet store. My Chi's (5 and 7 months) have recently been licking after urination which alarmed me. The vet performed a urinalysis which showed crystals. As of today we are on the Royal Canin prescription diet and hope that the issue subsides. I will not be feeding my babies Eagle Pack although I belief this diet may be greatly helpful for larger breed dogs.

Our dog has been on Eagle Pack Holistic Chicken and Rice for the past 3 months. In the last few weeks she's been shedding (and has dandruff) like crazy (I've never seen anything like it), and I'm wondering if it's from the food. A lot of other reviewers seem to have the same problem so I think I'll be taking her off it ASAP. Thanks.

My dog hates this food. It gave him diarrhea and was expensive. His coat became dry, the ingredients were gross, and he would hardly touch the stuff. It didn't provide enough nutrients for an active dog, pieces of kibble were too small.

I heard from very reliable sources Eagle Pack is the real deal, 100% organic, it is very good food. But my Schnauzer gets skin problems, I found out, from BROUWN RICE. So, I had to switch to Taste of the Wild, and this food my dogs just love the most, and I believe it is also excellent food, without grains.

Does everyone realize that you can't just "switch" your pets food from one feeding to the next? Your pets have a very sensitive digestive system, unlike their human companions. They do not tolorate change well at all. For everyone who has switched foods and then left a bad review, I challenge you to try this method and then repost after a few days/weeks: start out by mixing a small amount of the new food with your current brand of food. Gradually increase the amount of new and reduce the amount of your current brand until you have gone from 100% current to 100% new. If your pet still has problems, then yeah, maybe it is the food but if not, it was the method in which you introduced that food to your pet. I realize some pets just dont do well on certain food but for the majority of pets it is perfectly OK to switch their food as long as it isn't a sudden swap. It HAS to be a gradual change. I hope those who are considering changing to a holisic brand, or any other brand for that matter, consider what I just said. Their pet will thank them for it! I promise!!!

By the way, my rating isn't relevent to the brand in question...I left a neutral rating to avoid sounding biased.

Eagle Pack Holistic is excellent food. It does NOT have corn in it as some have posted, the regular Eagle Pack line does. So many people blame there dog itching on the food. Dogs can have allergies to food, pollens, mold, you name it. I noticed a lot of people posted that the allergies came back in fall and spring, which is the perfect time for pollen allergies. I wouldn't be so quick to blame the food it could very well be pollen. Last year was horrible for outdoor allergies. NO food will cure contact allergens. If anyone wants to put blame on someone or something go tell the petstore, puppy mill or back yard breeder the dog has allergies or other illness. I run a rescue group and all the dogs have done excellent on Eagle Pack Holistic.

Just recently we got a sample bag for some Holistic dog food given to us to try out. Two days ago we tried the new unopened sample bag. We gave some to our Mini Schnauzer 'Sydney'. He had one third of a cup of - Chicken and Rice - that night for his supper. During the night he was moving around the bed more than he usually would and the following morning his face was all swollen and the top of his nose was bleeding. The swelling could be clearly seen around both eyes and all around his mouth. We went to our vet and she identified what has happened to be a sever reaction to something. Our yard is fenced and we have 3 other dogs that share the same play area and living quarters. None of the others was affected only Sydney. The other dogs are a Yorkie, a Jack Russell and a Border Collie. We do compete in dog sports and we take very good care of our dogs. The only thing that was different between the four - was that Sydney got the Holistic Dog Food from Eagle Pack that night. All our dogs are physically fit and in very good health. All of them compete in Agility, some do Agility, Flyball, Disc, etc.... The reaction to the dog food came rather fast and very severe... I have taken these pictures to show what it looks like and the severity of the allergy. I hope this will help some other dogs.... and pet owners. location of pictures: http://www.kobi-jrt.com The location for this event is in Canada.

Hi,

I have recently become a foster for a Japanese Bobtail mix and two of her kittens. I am feeding all three of them kitten Eagle Pack, and I am feeding each of them the canned Eagle Pack cat/kitten food. I feed them free form on the kibble and 3-4 times on individual portions of the canned food. In 5 days of fostering, their coats are smoother, their stool is much healthier, they want the canned sooner than I can get it ready for them and their kibble is almost all gone in one day.

Such is the power of a good food choice for a pet. I have to rate the cat food a 5 for these reasons above.

I have loved the Eagle Pack Holistic until yesterday when I took my mini schnauzer to the vet thinking she had a bladder infection and they found instead that she had crystals in her urine. My vet said that had to come from her food - too much phospherous and/or magneisum. Up until now I also had been very happy with Eagle Pack Holistic Gold and have had to drive 10 miles each way to find a place that sells it. Unfortunately, I had just bought a 30 lb bag so that is $40 dollar poorly spent. My smaller schnauzer has been itching and biting and I assumed it was bugs from the yard when she went out to potty, but now I am wondering about the food with her too. I am going to call Eagle Pack tomorrow and see what they say. The vet said I could suplement the other schnauzer's (with crystals) diet with vitamin C, but it would not solve the issue just counter what the food is doing. She has also dropped weight lately. I am going to look into another food. I am give 3 stars based on how satisfied I HAVE been in the past.

I agree with Hurley. I've had my dog on Eagle Pack for approx. 6 mths. & his scratching & paw biting had subsided. However, within the last month or two he has been scratching, biting and scooting like crazy. He has an infection in both ears and his skin has developed a dandruff-like flakiness. I haven't fed him anything (including treats) except Eagle Pack Holistic food. In all fairness, I wrote to the company and asked if they have changed the ingredients. They claimed they haven't but this change in my dog is unexplainable so I strongly believe it is the food. I have switched food in the last week. We'll see if he improves. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has seen any negative changes in their dog.

Eagle Pack does have two lines of food. Both lines have good points. I have large and giant breed dogs, I show my dogs on a national level; therefore my dogs skin, coat, health and over all condition must be excellent. I only recommend and feed Eagle Pack food. Great Danes, Chihuahuas and Wolfs do not have the same nutritional needs. Dogs are not wolfs, we have domesticated them over thousands of years; their nutritional needs have changed. Some dogs have allergies, I am glad Eagle Pack offers Protein sources such as Anchovy, Sardine, Salmon and even Duck so that allergy dogs might benefit from this great food. I can feed my dogs any food I wishand Eagle Pack is my choice, it a wonderful food.

Our 13 week old Great Dane pupppy loves this food! He is happy, full of energy, and looks great. We constantly get compliments on him. We have done a great deal of research and talked with several breeders before selecting this brand, and I KNOW we made the right choice! Our dog is on EP Holistic Select for Lg/Giant breed puppies. We recommend this line of food to everyone!

Eagle Pack 5

I have to older greyhounds, neither is really picky. My oldest has some stomach and digestive issues and she does greyt on Eagle Pack. This is the first food she actually gets excited about eating. As soon as I start getting the food out she runs back and forth between me and her dish jumping up and down. she absolutely loves this food. They both have firm stools, more energy, very alert and beautiful soft shiny coats. We had tried Wellness and it was a good food but sometimes they would just walk away and not eat. I would highly recommend this food to anyone with a picky eater or one with stomach or digestive issues
