For the run he went on before without having any weapons, I think he earned his five. However, he hasn't cemented it yet.

I benched him for Derek Anderson.
GenghisTheHun 03/24/2008
You know, he has been a great player and is very good, also, off the field.
portecrayon 01/28/2007
Donnie Mac is a winner! He has done everything short of winning the Super Bowl which is no easy task. He has all the physical attributes that a franchise QB requies. Donovan could use some thicker skin to deal with loser fans like metalbuoy constantly whinning and harping. Garcia did an admiral job but would not have been able to sustain it throught 16 games and the playoffs. It help that the coaching staff changed the offense around putting the burden on RB Brian Westbrook as opposed to Garcia. As long as Andy Reid is the coach Donovan McNabb is the QB.
metalbuoy 01/14/2007
Only Philadelphia fans have the right to say anything on this site. I wouldnt write anything on a Brokeback mountain cowboy, Falcons, Green bay, etc. website, so non-philly people, SHUT UP! Im sick of Donovan and his mother, and jeff garcia proved anyone can run this offense better than mcnabb can. Its time to upgrade, and send mcnabb away for good.
Tk7138G 08/13/2006
People are starting to annoy me on this site. Donovan is one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. I personally can't stand him because I can't stand Philadelphia, but I'm not going to call him a crap quarterback. Who do you think Oakland would rather have: Aaron Brooks or Donovan McNabb. 3/4s of the teams in the NFL would immediately be upgraded just by having Donovan McNabb on the roster.
louiethe20th 08/10/2006
He has all of the physical tools, good arm strength, manuverability and toughness.I do question his decision making and his field generalship under pressure. His clock management in the super Bowl was horrible.
asskickingboot s 03/01/2006
He's got some great physical abilities... However, whenever ANYONE second guesses him (the fans, the media, his team, etc.) he blames it on racism. He uses the race card constantly, even during contract disputes, essentially saying that if the Eagles didn't pay him more money it's because he was black. This is the same team that used to pay quite a bit for Randle Cunningham (who was a better QB). I think McNabb led to alot of the problems with TO in Philli. Everybody acts like McNabb is the one of the two taking the high road and being careful of what he says. Yet he claimed TO criticizing him was the same as "black-on-black" crime, literally suggesting that TO was racist against blacks... The way TO put it was he got along great with most of his teammates... he only didn't like one guy, a guy named McNabb. Believe it or not McNabb, it's very possible that not every time someone dislikes you is it because of your skin, jackass.
gamerman 02/24/2006
This guy can't catch a break. Rush, T.O., some of his teammates, Hugh Douglas, and the "loyal" Philadelphia fans seem to hate this guy. He's a good guy, he's not arrogant unlike most athletes. Phila do you wanna trade, we'll give you Drew Bledsoe. At least your qb can scramble, Drew stands in the pocket forever!
blue89 01/16/2006
Quality guy on and off the field.
digs 12/22/2005
The 1999 draft boos, calls for AJ Feeley, Rush Limbaugh, TO, Whyatt Mondesire; I cannot believe how much gets dumped on this guy. I have never seen McNabb be about anything other than winning football games (and selling the occasional can of soup). First two years they said he ran too much. Now they say he doesn't run enough. He spends every off season voluntarily working out with teammates in Arizona, but since the Super Bowl loss people question his conditioning and composure. Couldn't it be the Pats just had a really great defense? Ask Peyton Manning if you need a second opinion. People who say he hurt his team this year trying to play injured would be the first to accuse him of being soft if he had sat out a few games. The guy has the worst karma in the NFL...
zuchinibut 11/29/2005
Donovan's stock has fallen over this past year. While an athletic quarterback is great, foremost the position requires a man who is a leader. I think McNabb's problems with T.O. have shown that McNabb has some flaws in how he leads a team, and this has contributed to his problems on the field.
Rixter 11/15/2005
First let me say that Donovan McNabb is the best quarterback the Eagles ever had. He the only one to ever get them far into the playoffs. But I am writing this after McNabb has thrown a game-deciding interception for a third straight game. This time giving up a interception return for a touchdown after leading the Cowboys for 3 1/2 quarters. My biggest gripe with McNabb from the beginning is that he plays well when he's not under pressure but when the going gets tough and when the game is on the line, he gets rattled and makes big mistakes(fumbles, interceptions, overthrows, etc). In every playoff lose, McNabb has throw an interception to end the any chance of the winning, including the Super Bowl last year. My patience is running thin. Many Eagle fans were spoiled because he took them to the NFC championship four years in a row but there comes a time when getting close is not good enough. I think at this point since it looks like they are not going to the playoffs. Then just bench McNabb, let his body heal and hope for the best next year.
Fang1000 11/15/2005
Definitely one of the top 32 QBs in the league. I am neither an Eagles lover or hater, but come on! He has moments of brilliance. So does Jake Plummer, and the only thing you hear about him is how ugly his beard looks. In my opinion, McNabb has always used "injuries" as an excuse for not performing up to par. Not just this year. Yeah, it is great and gritty when a QB plays hurt. But not when that hurts his team. If you are such a great leader on the field, how about taking a couple of games off and play at 100% instead of the annual "I'm doing the best I can."
player0725 11/06/2005
Great potential in the skille column, but is definitely overrated and made too much a big deal of for the things he "almost" done!! He should have sucked it up and supported TO like he did for Westbrook, even though TO's a pain in the ass!! Mcnabb is a floosey(spell?), he'll joke and laugh and play around while the play clock winds down for a falg!! He is never genuinely serious in a big game like Elway, Farve, Manning, Marino, Montana all are or were! The man needs to step up big time and own the fact that the Eagles are loosing because of him. Andy Reid needs to get off his jock and get on his ass on how he is playing!!- God- that idiot took a hit and ran the clock down instead of spiking the ball to tie before the halg vs. the Redskins on 11.05.05!!
derekgorgonsta r 09/15/2005
Vastly overrated because of backlash from Limbaugh's innoucous comments. Good in the regular season, but if you can't step up in the Super Bowl when you have a complete team around you, then you're no better than Jim Kelly, perhaps the most undeserving member of the Hall of Fame.
CanadaSucks 08/04/2005
Terrific quarterback- smart, great arm, commands respect from teammates and the toughest fans in America. . .no small feat.
texasyankee 08/04/2005
Turned the Eagles around, in a single season. Finally gave the Giants a run for the money last year. Hate to admit it, but this guy is something special.
Yishai 08/04/2005
McNabb is an incredible athlete, I will never try to say otherwise, and a fantastic quarterback. However, he is also a spineless hypocrite with very little to offer in an intelligent conversation. Take the Rush Limbaugh incident as an example. He acts shocked that race was in issue (although it truly wasn't if you read the comments in context)....when HE (allegedly) used race while negotiation is HUGE contract. Such hypocrisy is disgusting and the use of the race card deplorable. His criticisms of Brett Favre's comments about Javon Walker also show that he is a moron. How can the guy who ran out of gas at the Super Bowl talk about professionalism??? Brett Favre IS the Green Bay Packers, that is his business and he has the right to say whatever he wants about the tactics used by his teammates (and not the teammates themselves) that affect the team. McNabb on the otherhand sits around with his thumb up his butt without the guts to say anything about T.O. because he doesn't want to be called a homosexual when T.O. decides to leave the Eagles. McNabb is a cowardly tool who runs out of gas in big games.
JnnySDBOLTS 07/28/2005
this guy is great lead his team to a superbowl and 4 nfc championship games, is a proboller, and on the cover of madden 06, u cant do it with out a great QB
GB4Life 05/11/2005
can't win the big one, bummer
cutegurl 04/20/2005
Dude, McNabb doesn't even hold a candle to Manning, in anything. Manning has almost twenty passer rating points over McNabb and eighteen more touchdown passes last season. Manning also has eight hundred more passing yards than McNabb. Manning can also execute more creative and efficent plays. He has a wider range of what he can do as far as play excution goes: shovel, long, pitch, ect. I do not understand why McNabb ranks so high on this list and Manning so low. They'er not even in the same league.
Jar-Jar Binks 04/17/2005
He's physically and mentally tough. He's got a hell of an arm and a good attitude.
T-Do 02/09/2005
Very Good QB during regular season without the do or die pressure. Add the pressure of a big game and he falls apart like a house of cards. Philly can enjoy the next three or four years in having a better than average team but with McNabb as QB they will never ever win the Superbowl.
alpepper 02/08/2005
Donovan McNabb is the paramount reason why the Iggles have risen from the ashes from one of the worst teams in the NFL to the elite team of the NFC. Unbelievable scrambler and not that far behind Vick when he breaks loose on the run. His passing statistics keep getting better and better. This year, he had 31 TD passes vs. just 9 picks. Right now, I gotta rank McNabb as the best QB in the NFC, but behind Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. While he has had a few setbacks in post-season play, I have no qualms about his performance in the Super Bowl. On the road to the Super Bowl, the Pats made Peyton Manning look like a Rookie and Ben Roethleisberger also look like a Rookie (Oh wait, he is a rookie). But Mcnabb had the 3rd best Super Bowl passing yardage total and three for 3 TDs (and that was an off day). I feel McNabb and the Eagles will be back next year as the kings of the NFC East.
irishgit 01/24/2005
Clearly brilliant. Both a physical and mental presence on the field, and is clearly the glue that holds this team together. My vote for the best quarterback in the game today. UPDATE: After this run to the Super Bowl, he should, (but won't) silence most of his critics. A hell of a weapon.
Beelzebub 01/13/2005
Rush was right. And I'm sick of his mother and the f-ing soup.
ChrisO1981 01/08/2005
Going to be one of the greats
bballgrandslam mer32 12/21/2004
Great athlete, both physically and mentally. Makes great decisions on the field and can get 1st downs by running when his team's in trouble. Hopefully he doesn't get hurt like TO.
clarkone68 09/14/2004
He's good when he's not 2-hopping the ball to his receivers. TO will make McFlabb look far better than he really is.
Stangg 08/11/2004
Has absolutely NO RECEIVING CORP and still and a sub par running game and still drives the team to the NFC Conferance game. For that I give him props, but he is vastly over rated. I mean he does choke and I have seen him made some bad passes that should of been gimmes in his career. But over all he makes it in my Top 5 of QB's playing in the NFL
ortizd 07/30/2004
uhhh no
Blanco~Nino 07/20/2004
Greatest all around quarterback ever. He will find a way to beat you. He can do it with the arm or legs. Mcnabb is the most determined player i've seen in years. I mean, he is responsible for 60% of the #1 team in football's offense, that says how versatile he is. The addition of owens will make him even more deadly.
PHILFAN@COMCAS T.NET 07/18/2004
ONE OF THE BEST QUARTERBACKS I'VE EVER SEEN AND AN E-A-G-L-E
alihikaua 04/10/2004
He's overated because hes black
Donovan_McNabb 03/04/2004
All those that rate McNabb a one-star just for the heck of it really need to stop. #5 is an amazing player and all those who do not agree should be frowned upon. He had lead his team to three conference championships. Thats where the criticizations come in. Many people say he failed his team all those games, which is not true. He can not be forced to take all of the blame -- maybe some -- but not all. He would have a better rating if he had better WR's, which is too bad Owens is taken; even with his attitude.
widgeon 02/11/2004
could be a better rb than qb
saracuse 11/17/2003
Mcnabbs time is coming they will be cheering his name when all is said and done and when the hall of fame comes a knocking no he didn't play it like Marino and no he don't play like Vic but whan all is said and done they will look at the line, the bottom line and that is WWW's! no he may not have been the best to play the game but like Ewing and Like Stockton and all other players who came up short of the greatest to ever play the game tab they'll see that he won even when he lost and that with all the chips stack up against you, he made fans still believe...
joe_doe 11/10/2003
rush was right. donovan you are overrated.
JorganVonSting le 09/15/2003
I like him. I just don't think he is suited to be an NFL quarterback. He should be a running back, as that would be better for his skills. Plus, the Eagles stink this year. Wow, I must be right!!!
Chilllinnn 08/28/2003
What can you say about a guy who played an entire game and threw 3 touchdowns on a broken ankle? He's a great player with TONS of heart...
hrd2h8 06/18/2003
And to think the Eagles fans booed him when he was drafted...anyways, great player.
sperryc 11/18/2002
This morning on sportscenter, he was called "the most dangerous QB in the league". Damn right. He has the size, the smarts, the athleticism, the arm, the determination... After cracking his ankle early in yesterday's game, he "wouldn't be taken out", choosing instead to adapt his game: this renowned rusher attempted zero rushing yds, reminded the crowd how sick his arm is, throwing for 255 yds (20-25) along with 4 really pretty TDs. Take notes young Thomas Brady. This is the QB you want to be.
raymondhof 10/09/2001
Three times by the Giants. He cries at home about this.
Davis21Wylie 08/05/2001
A very dangerous weapon. May be the most exciting QB in the league, because he'll hurt you in so many ways. He has a power arm, and can take off and run if he's in trouble. At this stage, though, he's more physical than cerebral. He struggles to read defenses, he'll lock onto his primary reciever, take too many sacks, force passes. Once he becomes acclamated to the NFL, he'll be very scary.
Steel 03/10/2001
I can't believe you guys are making him out to be so great. He is good.... but let him prove himself first. He still hasn't had as good of a season as Kordell Stewart did in 1997. So, before he is titled one of the best he needs to do it for multiple seasons or at least 2.
TheGreatest 03/02/2001
I hope for Donovans sake the eagles produce something next year. What I hate about Philly is the impatience, Why do you think no great free agents go to Philly, besides there Highschool like gym facilities, its there fans. They are the worst fans is sports today, who would rather hang someone than back him up.
marcus04 12/30/2000
Amen, Magellan. Put the Philly offense on his back and took them from 5-11 to 11-5. Bring on the Bucs.
Munson 11/30/2000
Hey Magellan, let's not get the bust ready in Canton for this guy just yet. I agree that McNabb is the only offensive weapon that the Eagles have. But, not too long ago, there was another fleet-footed and strong-armed Eagle QB with very average receivers and no running game. He had a very strong Eagle career, but was basically run out of town at the end. Down the road, McNabb could be great, but at this point he is a good player who needs to improve if he wants to take his team to the Super Bowl.
