The 70's and early 80's were the Golden Era of the token minority; however, TC of Magnum, P.I. had more substance than most and the character didn't feel forced.

Magnum, P.I. was my favorite TV show when it was airing. Tom Selleck was, of course, my favorite character, but T.C. was a close second, as Magnum's best friend. Of the group T.C. was definately the toughest, and he always commanded the most respect. When in a pinch, he almost seem to serve the same purpose as MR.T did in the A-Team. As the Big, Bad ass, black guy. He played it well.
