Ivan Dixon played Sgt. James 'Kinch' Kinchloe, the sole regular African-American character on the television show "Hogan's Heroes." The series was originally broadcast from 1965 to 1971.

Having an African American actor play a prisoner of the Nazis wasn't so much a stretch, but when that prisoner was also participating in covert actions, the line was crossed into the surreal and unbelievable. While this casting was clearly token, it's just not classic enough to be considered a 5 star.

He was a good character but totally anachronistic and therefore a token.
