Though too relatively recent to be a classic token minority, the character of Winston Zeddemore was clearly an afterthought in the screenplay for Ghostbusters, as he was introduced so late in the story and awkwardly at that.

Definitly. He came late and was there for show although he had a few lines.

Winston definitely didn't fit in with the rest of the Ghostbusters. This character selection was so obviously made to include a black actor in the picture to try to bring in a larger audience.
