In one of the great pitching series in history, every game was a shutout, with Christy Mathewson throwing three for the Giants. In one of the best individual pitching performances ever, Mathewson gave up 14 runs and one walk in 27 innings while striking out 18.

The fact that Christy Mathewson through 3 shutouts and that there was a shutout in every game made this series worth watching. It's too bad that television didn't exist, otherwise this would probably be rated higher.

If you get a chance look at the composite box score. You want to talk about Deadball era. Matty had them lost for 27 innings. Three shutouts over five days is nothing short of remarkable.
