Just so people know...LaBelle is her middle name. Also American Idol made a bigger deal out of Leah's parents being pop stars than she intended to be. Also remember TV can twist things and make things out to be true when they are not. They only show what they want you to see.

06/23/2004 |  I think that Leah needs more training before she becomes the big star that she is GOING TO BE. I gave her 4 because I love her voice and her beauty. I think that she was the weakest of the 12 singers because American Idol had some very talented singers this year and I didn't really think that Leah could beat them. Jon Peter Lewis dance moves and okay voice. Jennifer and Diana's powerful yet controlable voices. George's raspy and powerful deep voice. Latoya and Fantasia's ability to sing each note precisely. Jasmine's beauty and gentle voice who has no more room for error because there is enough error. John Stevens with his very unique yet acceptable voice. Camile's beautiful voice which really didn't show at first because she was so nervous. And the underated Matt Rogers who was a powerful singer who could really blow. Leah was the one who had the beautiful voice and stage presence but yet she didn't show it when she sung Keep Me Hanging On. Her performance was the weakest of the 12 that night but I still voted 4 her 7 times because there was something that I enjoyed about her, the ability of singing and stage presence that she displayed.

05/16/2004 | Was expected to make the Top 12 as one of the 2 choasen to go straight to the top 12. Was in a tough group to earn her spot in because she had minor competition from Katie Webber, Fantasia and Diana which made it through except for Katie she was asked to go the wildcard show along with Leah LaBelle. Leah was the first wildcard to take a Top 12 spot. She was tooken by Randy as his favorite to go through, before Jennifer Hudon,George Huff who was 2 of the other big sensations of the top 12!!!

03/23/2004 | Most well-known singers have unique voices...you know who they are without having to see them. That's what Leah has. I believe she has the potential. She's young and just needs some coaching. I also believe she picked songs that didn't showcase her tremendous gospel/R&B abilities. I hope she gets the opportunities to do just that. I look forward to hearing her again in the future.

There was no doubt, by looking at the final 12, who the star was, we just watched her leave last week.

03/17/2004 | Leah LaBelle did NOT do that bad when she sang You Keep Me Hangin' On, she just did it a little differently than Kim Wilde did it. The judges on American Idol are notorious for being really negative towards any contestant who chooses an upbeat song from the 80's it seems like. But alot of new wave songs from that era are hard to sing. Very few can pull it off...
