On paper this should have been a Yankee walkover, and in the three games they won, it was. They piled up huge run counts, but in the other four games the Pirates doggedly plugged away. This led to Mazeroski's heroics in game 7 hitting a ball into the Forbes Field bleachers over Yogi Berra's head for the victory.
