Game 7 was tied 0-0 in the 7th.Bob Gibson pitching for the Cards. He is on top of his game. Then 2 Tigers get onbase.Jim Northrup hits a fly ball to Curt Flood the Gold Glove center fielder.Flood loses the ball in the sun.TRIPLE!Detroit holds on...WorldSeries Champs! The Cardinals lost after holding a 3-1 series lead and they never were the same after that.

Instead of the story being about Denny McLean and Bob Gibson like it was it the regular season, it was all about Mickey Lolich in the World Series.

Seeing Willie Horton throw out the legendary Lou Brock at home plate and Mickey Lolich jumping into the waiting arms of Bill Freehan when Detroit came back from way way down to upset the St. Louis Cardinals and Bob Gibson... wow!

Gibson and the Cards were strong again, with Gibson racking up a record 17 strikeouts in game one and notching his record 7th straight series win in game four. But Mickey Lolich and the Tigers would not be denied, with Lolich winning three with a 1.67 ERA.
