The biggest problem with deregulating air fares has been opening the door to travellers who normally could only afford to hop the 'Hound. These days flying is sometimes like being stuck on the rear seat of the Greyhound between a unwashed wino and single mother with four infant children.

It's been a few years since I went Greyhound, but the decline in the quality of the air travel experience (I refuse to fly Southwest again!) makes me want to give it another go. Better seating than an airplane. Good view of the countryside - without the fatigue of driving yourself. Bring and enjoy your own food and beverages. Lots of stops and it takes time, but, if you have time, travel by bus can be very interesting and relaxing.

I hate buses. Riding a double decker bus might be fun; I will try this if I ever visit England.
