A sweet and touching movie. One of the best of the silents. Chaplin does some of his best work in this film. As always some very funny scenes too.

good silent movie. the music was redone about 18 years ago to go with the Silent. a very nice plot. about the Little Tramp.he meets a blind flower girl, and wants to help her. at the same time he encounter a millionaire who is about to commit suicide and stops him. they become sort of friends and the rich guy goes to Europe for awhile. the tramp gets jobs to help the blind girl and her grandmother. he ends up helping the blind girl even more when he gets 1000 dollars from the rich man { who prompty gets knocked out by a burglar when comes to forgets he is friends with the tramp} anyway the very last scene is touching the girl gets the operation gets her sight and runs a flower shop with her grandmother the tramp sees her and when he talks she recognises his voice and knows he was the one who helped her. very sweet ending.

Moves along beautifully and is genuinely funny in many places...great music too. Chaplin wasn't usually this good. I give Virginia Cherrill much of the credit.

This is probably Chaplin's masterpiece. It is truly touching as well as funny. For anyone who has a hard time following silent movies I suggest they start out on this one.

Truly a spectacular film. It has an umatched blend of tragedy and comedy, romance and drama. This film also was one of Chaplain's last attempts to bring the fall of the talkies. Not to mention, this picture which not only stared but was directed by the Little Tramp proved Chaplain can do more than just simple slapstick.
