 | DrEntropy (40) 01/26/2007 | This is a good Liberal Arts school in a bucolic but very isolated part of Central Ohio. Kenyon has some very good professors, friendly students, small classes, and good programs in the Humanities. Kenyon isn't the top-level school it once was, but neither has it degenerated so completely as the other once-great Ohio Colleges.

 | lightingman (0) 01/19/2007 | In response to a recent review, Kenyon College recently completed a MASSIVE 263,000 sq. ft., 70 million dollar athletic facility. Theres some great pics and statistics about the place at: http://www1.kenyon.edu/athleticcenter/

 | Moosekarloff (19) 07/09/2003 | The Kenyon graduates I've met were very intelligent, well prepared, well informed, educated and humanized people. Excellent humanities programs. Hard to believe this school isn't in New England or upstate NY.

 | TheMTX (0) 06/13/2001 | As a graduate of Kenyon (BA, English Literature, 1992), my opinion is undoubtedly somewhat biased, but I must agree with 6uldv8, poorly aliased though (s)he may be. Liberal arts are the core of the Kenyon experience, and a first-rate English Lit. program was what drew me to the admittedly isolated campus. I attended classes and seminars throughout my academic career there that held my attention, provoked analytical thought, and offered truly enriching experiences, both in and out of my major field of study. The Psychology dept. was first-rate; I especially enjoyed the style and antics of Dr. Art Leccese (sp.? - it's been almost 10 yrs.). Music was another favorite, mostly because of Professor "Tunes" Taylor, RIP. I can only hope the faculty continues to maintain its high standards for evaluating students' work, thought process development, and intellectual evolution. With regards to athletic facilities - feh, who needs 'em. I lettered in varsity soccer two years, varsity baseball three, in high school. When I arrived at Kenyon in the Fall of '88, I didn't miss organized sports one bit, especially given our student body's proclivity to party insanely hard. No regrets, no hesitation in recommending the school for those who wish to devote a good deal of energy to personal academic development, and I'm looking forward to a 10 year reunion next summer.

 | hobart 28 (0) 03/30/2001 | Kenyon is not what I envisioned. The drury gothic architecture casts an eery pall on a cloudy day even in June. The campus grounds and athletic facilities are third-tierish.The scholarship is harshly competitive especially in the physical sciences.Kenyon simply does not have enough endowment to keep up with some of its NCAC competitors.Remote, bucolic and stifling are apt words for a college that is living off its past reputation.

 | 6uldv8 (0) 03/20/2001 | Don't know what this birch guy is talking about. Kenyon College is a top notch school! They offer such diversity in their educational endeavors that you can go from graphic design to Defense Development with ease. Who cares about athletics...Kenyon never has, it's program integrating literature, science, philosophy and the arts is the best in the country. Kenyon takes liberal arts to the extreme and allows students to build their own majors based-upon existing programs as well as shape the new ones! Students are very involved in course management and have the ability to network through the vast alumni network. Your professors are a mere mile from your dorm--making it easy to learn from 6am until 1am. Yes, an isolated campus--but a mecca for the most important things in life, learning and drinkin' beer.

 | birch45 (0) 02/26/2001 | Kenyon is isolated and lacking in modern athletic facilities. For a supposedly top-ranked institution Kenyon disappoints in this critical regard. They appear to be struggling with the difficult task of raising money for much needed physical structure updating. They do have a new science building but need to do so much more to stay up in the front rank of America's prestige institutions.
