 | AndrewScott (71) 03/21/2004 | Good notices have followed his career, including a 2004 Best Actor nomination for House of Sand and Fog. Much of the public still can't seem to shake the mental image Sir Ben in his most famous role of Gandhi, which garnered him a Best Actor trophy back in 1982. Such association certainly doesn't hurt people's impression that he has the excellent character typically required for knighthood. As a note of trivia, Kingsley's birth name is Krishna Bhanji, as he happens to be of half Indian and half British descent. Sir Ben Kingsley was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2001.
