One of the quintessential Irish drinking songs, combining the key elements of excessive drinking, the hint of the Irish diaspora and a rousing refrain that can easily be remembered by drunk people.

I always liked this song. Tommy Makem and the Clancys did it well. "When out of my pocket, I took sovreigns bright..." It always made me wonder where and how the Wild Rover made all that money.
