One of the most under rated players of his generation. His low key personality kept him out of the limelight. He was the smoothest fielding first baseman I can ever remember seeing. Peter Gammons still refers to his swing as the standard for left handed hitters. Won a batting title in the AL and nearly won a batting title in the NL when he hit .354 with the Mets a couple years later. One of only 2 players to hit for the cycle in both the AL and NL. The last guy to come out of college and go straight to the majors. He hit foul pole to foul pole better than any player I can remember and finished his career with 500 doubles.

Excellent glove, and a solid line drive hitter with decent if not spectacular power. Had good years in Toronto, Seattle and the Mets and hung on for a few partial seasons with the Red Sox and Yankees.
Distinctive because he wore a batting helmet on the field to protect his head. I don't recall the problem, but I believe he was protecting a old skull fracture.

Another Blue Jay great. People always gushed about how "sweet" Will Clark's swing was but Johnny-O put him to shame. A pure, smooth almost mechanical swing with good power. Hit the other way better than any player I've seen.

Classy guy, great with the glove, won 3 Gold Gloves. Played for the 2 time Series winning Blue Jays, including a batting title in 1993, walked a lot , had pretty good if not great power, and had some fine years with The Mets and Mariners before becoming a part timer with The Yankees and Boston. Just retired very recently.
