I think he's the best HITTING catcher ever to play. I think he's a stone butcher behind the plate and there's no evidence that he can handle pitchers.

I think he is the best hitting catcher all-time, no arguing about it

Docked a star for his abysmal defense, but a surefire Hall of Famer with an absolutely lethal bat, though he's slowing down and probably won't be around in a few years.

Hits for average like Mickey Cochrane. Hits for power like Johnny Bench. Plays defense like Joe Bagodunuts. I think in another post, I ranked him 7th or 8th best catch all time.

is second only to Pudge Rodriguez for me in terms of great catchers of the past 10-12 years. Hits more more power but lacks the all-around talent of a Rodriguez. Has a WS Ring and has been in several all-stars. the catching HR record is his and quite possibly has assured Piazza's place in the HOF. Also at 37 his catching skills have declined and the last two seasons have been fraught w/nagging injuries, so i think Mike might have to be judged more on his past than what he might still be capable of.

One of the best hitters in the 90s.
