Great catcher with the Cubs in the 20's and 30's, easily the best all- around National League catcher of his day. Good defense and a thunderous bat, best known for his famous twilight "Homer in the Gloamin" that sealed the '38 pennant for the Cubs. Easily amongst the ten greatest catchers in MLB history, and a Hall of Famer.
