A decent hitter and a so-so catcher who got to play for a great '84 Tigers team. But when he went to the Phillies in 1987, his productivity dropped substantially. All the Phillies could get for him in a trade was a minor league pitcher, then Parrish goes on to have 6 fairly good years. Living proof that the NL is better than the AL.

Never the same after he left Detroit after the '86 season, though he managed to hang around for a decade or so, and wasn't a total minus as he could still really smash the ball if he got hold of it- a strong guy. Probably the best A.L. catcher offensively speaking in the league at his prime during the early to mid 80's. Good at blocking the plate.

had a solid career and an important part of the 1984 Tigers. other than that, i dont hold Parrish up to any esteem at the position. although i suppose having a dependable guy to catch 9 innings for 130 or more gamea a year is a good deal.

3 time gold glove and the stronest arm of his generation. If that's bad defense then the bar is set too high...
