In his prime, he was one of the top five players in the majors. I consider him to be a HOFer and the best SS in Reds history.

Fine all around shortstop- good glove, speed, a fine hitter. Flew under the radar a little bit, but beats out Concepcion in my mind as the greatest Reds shortstop, should make the Hall, and was usually the best N.L. shortstop of his time at his peak, maybe in all of baseball during certain seasons.

Better than average with the leather, well above average with the lumber. Why only three stars then? I think there were holes in his game, and I'm not sure he was much of a plus in the clubhouse.

A great player in his prime. He did it all and was the factor in the Reds last championship.

According to Bill James, Barry Larkin is a better shortstop than Ozzie Smith. He was almost as good of a fielder, and he could hit faaaaaaar better than Smith. Larkin was the very first infielder in the 30-30 club in baseball history.

If it wasnt for Ozzie Smith he would have more mvp's. His prime was just at the wrong time.
