Possibly the greatest Redsox player since Yaz in his prime, (Which is saying quite a lot since the Sox have had Fred Lynn, Jim Rice, Mo Vaughn, Manny Ramirez, and David Ortiz...) Nomar, before his streak of dibilitating injuries, was the best hitter in the league and had an absolute cannon for an arm. At the plate, he was about as patient as the Pirate hitters of the early seventies (never saw a pitch he didn't swing at) but the results were often so positive that he was above any criticism. A right handed power hitter with average speed winning two batting titles and hitting over .370 in a ball park where the opposition rarely starts a left-handed pitcher? Come on now! I hope that his comeback at 1st base with the Dodgers will be realized this season. I'm also looking forward to seeing what kind of offspring will be the result of his coupling with Mia Hamm.

Injuries have derailed what looked like a sure thing ticket to Cooperstown. Still a formidable hitter, but not the force he once was. Frankly I'm stretching to give him 4 stars. He's probably a three.

Avery good hitter at his peak, a 2 time batting champ with power, serviceable fielder, with a little speed. Injuries bounced him off the HOF track he was on, and it seems unlikely he'll recover in a sufficient enough way to make it.

Nomah! A quiet, gritty leader and fan favorite. A consistent performer year after year, both offensively and defensively.
