A very, very fine player with Toronto at first who later degenerated into a role player and bounced from club to club, though he had a fine career, better than some think. Lots of base hits and good averages, solid defense, and could run in his first incarnation.

At his peak, just brilliant. Unfortunately his peak didn't last long and he was more than a touch erratic.

In his career Tony has held records for hits by a shortstop, rbi's by a shortstop in the postseason, fewest errors in a season, highest feilding percentage for a season and for a career. He won't make the hall, but he was a centerpeice player on one of the best teams of his generation and possibly the best overall shorstop of his era.
