Terrific defensively, not much of a hitter really. A hilarious irrepressible character whose stunts and practical jokes were legendary. Had a very long career, mostly with the Boston Braves, elected to the Hall in the 50's. A big part of the Miracle Braves stunning rise to the pennant from last place IN JULY of '14; they went on to shockingly sweep the mighty A's of Collins, Bender, Plank, Home Run Baker, et. al. Fascinating player.
