More like a four and a half, and I agree with git, in his review for Musial, I'd take Musial on the basepaths, Musial in the field, Musial in the dugout, and Musial in the clubhouse, and Williams only with the wood in his hand.
However Williams with the wood in his hand makes you forget everything else.

In any reasonably detailed statistical analysis of hitting, two players are well ahead of everyone else, and so close to each other that any slight tweaking of the analysis changes who's first and second. The two are Ruth and Williams. Williams was an astonishing hitter, and when one considers the years lost to military service during his best potential period he is even more astonishing. An utterly indifferent fielder, who didn't appear to care much about playing his position. While he is the best hitting left fielder, he is not the best overall left fielder. Stan Musial is.

When you get to the top it becomes obvious and kinda boring - there's not much to say. It's easier to talk about the guys at or near the bottom of the list, at least for me. What can you add really? Arguably the greatest hitter ever, and despite mediocre defense and lack of speed, one of the greatest ever legends of the game.

Sometimes his temper got the best of him, but he still should've gotten at least one ring.

Lost two prime years to war and still managed to pull off TWO Triple Crowns and a .400

Teddy was the BEST hitting LF in the game ever. The problem that most, including me, had with him is the lackluster play in the field. That being said I liked him and wish there were more of him these days.

My fave player ever. definately best hitter ever. fielding was a different story. but that can be looked over due to his excellent hitting and john wayne like persona. he was a great man.
