He. Was. The. Greatest. Leadoff. Hitter. In. The. History. Of. The. Game. Second place isn't even close. Hit, hit for power, speed, above average defense, smart, competitive, he was a total package.
Seeing him take a lead off first was like watching someone touch a match to a fireworks display.

Greatest leadoff hitter ever. Played for many clubs, and hung on too long, but best known as an Oakland player. Had power, hit many taters to lead off a game, and of course holds the season and career stolen base mark. Very exciting player, who was often the center of attention of any game he played in during his prime. Will be a first ballot, slam dunk HOF'er.

Not great because of stolen bases, which is possibly the most over rated statistic in baseball, but rather because of his prowess as a lead-off hitter and his longevity. Better power than many teams 2nd and 3rd hitters.
