Excellent player, hit more doubles than anyone in history, broke up Cobb's string of batting titles in 1916, easy pick for The Hall, and hit .344 lifetime with good power for the deadball era. Somewhat unfairly overshadowed by Cobb, and underrated by many fans today. Exceptional fielder, played very shallow, shallow enough to throw out guys at first base, obviously one of the greats in center defensively, and could steal bases too. Played in the A.L. for Boston, Cleveland, Washington, and the A's from 1907-1927, and was the player-manager for the 1920 Series winning Indians. One of the true all- time greats in center field.

Any account of this guy's fielding prowess never fails to mention his tremendous range and rifle arm. Could hit more than a little too.
