Hack Wilson 3

The name "Hack" came from his resemblance to a popular wrestler of the time named Hackenschmidt. His real name was Lewis. Came up with The Giants, went to the minors, and reemerged with The Cubs, where he hit lots of homers and still holds the single season mark for RBI's with 190 in 1930. A powerful hitter at his peak from 1926-1930, but keep in mind that his numbers were inflated during this era. For instance, the N.L. AS A WHOLE hit .303 in 1930, that year was the zenith of the huge hitting era. After that, drinking problems, changing attributes of play and constant criticism from tough manager Rogers Hornsby kicked in, and Wilson only played a few more years. Not much of a fielder, and in all probability wouldn't even get a look today, he was a short, very short by modern players standards and rather fat guy, though he was powerful. Eventually made The Hall, though he doesn't really deserve it. I don't mean to bash Wilson, he had a great 5 year run, but was below average otherwise.
