 | bigmike62 (0) 09/22/2008 | Pryor was absolutely without a doubt the greatest fighter I have ever seen. Unfortunately, his career was cut short by drug abuse. There are no better fights to watch than his dismantling of the great Alexis Arguello!

 | Fix72 (0) 04/07/2007 | How many of you know that Aaron Pryor challenged Sugar Ray Leonard 7 times to a fight, only to be refused. This is fact. Leonard was the smartest boxer out of Hearns and Hagler. He knew that if he fought Pryor, he would get KO. How many of you know that Leonard moved up a weight division just to get away from Pryor. If your not a boxer please keep your view to minimum. Just remember this rule Speed will always beat power unless power connects. Also styles make fighters and no out there not even Floyed Mayweater Jr would of beat Pryor. He would just another KO on Pryor record. How would of he gone against Tommy Hearns you ask. Did you know that Aaron defeated Tommy in the Amateurs. The result would not of been much different in the Pro's. Aaron Pryor is the best boxer l have ever seen. The only one that would of give him a run for his money was Hagler. Now that would of been a fight!

 | godlybrotha (4) 01/29/2007 | I recently watched the second Arguello fight on ESPN Classic, and was reminded of what an incredible boxer/brawler Pryor was. Arguello hit him with shots that would have knocked out about 95% of all welterweights or middleweights. Pryor was unrivaled in his toughness. He used to get knocked down in the first or second round in some fights, but would get up and literally dominate his opponents. I ALSO will fall short of giving him 5 stars, because he deprived the boxing world of many spectacular years of his prime due to his decension into drugs. I still to this day wonder how he would've fared against Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, or even Marvin Hagler.

 | meatmaller (0) 03/30/2006 | What a trip, i was drinking with this guy a week ago in Youngstown Ohio. He can really put em down. He was a decent boxer, but a great brawler. Fights with Arguello were excellent. Very enjoyable to watch, its a shame thats hes pumping gas at a BP in Ohio.

 | Randyman (109) 03/28/2005 | I agree Dorsett, as great as Pryor was, I don't think we saw the best of him. Who knows just how great he might have been if not for drugs. A sports tragedy if ever there was one.

 | Taskmaster-Zero (0) 07/28/2004 | The best Junior Welterweight probably ever. Ducked shamelessly in his prime by many great fighters. Even though he never got the big fights outside of Arguello he was great nevertheless. I would give hima 4.5

 | TheEvilSaintEvan (0) 06/27/2004 | they dont come more aggressive than aaron pryor. he KOd arguello twice. unfortunatly, the only name he beat was arguello. that, and his drug problem, cost him 5 stars.

 | punky1717 (0) 06/10/2004 | Pound for pound the best I have ever seen. A quiet superstar, he could have went undefeated had it not been for bad management and drugs. In his prime, no one could beat him. Watch some old tapes to confirm this. Too bad he did not fight Leonard--would have been awesome fight.

 | PB50g (0) 03/28/2004 | The Hawk is hands down one of the top 5 fighters of all time and number 1 in my book. His stamina was great, he never stopped throwing punches. For younger boxers the best way to describe Aaron is the Roy Jones of his day. 5 star rating no doubt.

 | DGWebber (0) 05/15/2003 | One of the saddest stories of self-destruction in all of boxing. Pryor did to himself outside the ring what none of his contemporaries could do to him inside the ring. May have been one of the best ever, pound for pound. He topped the great Arguello twice - even though Alexis was on the downside of his career, he was still a potent fighter and a master technician. Pryor topped him with frightening quickness and a killer instinct found in few if any fighters today. If not for career being cut short by his addiction, he would get a 5-star rating from me.

 | Guitar Coyote (0) 01/02/2003 | How could you not rate the Hawk a 5 he was 30-0 until drugs got him leonard and Hearns didnt want any part of him and he destroyed Arguello who was a legend himself Pryor was Joe Frazier of his weight class

 | v the final battle (0) 11/22/2002 | although i remember pryor fighting on t.v. in the early 80's i was really to young to appreicate just how good this fighter was or possibly how much greater he could have been had it not been for drugs. however some things i do rememeber strongly are is pryor totally destroying alexis arguello(sp) and being totally entertaining in the ring.

 | lemans7 (0) 10/05/2002 | WELL, HE WAS A GREAT BOXER. BUT WHEN HE FACED ARGUELLO, ALEX WAS NOT IN HIS PRIME ANYMORE.IN 1982, ARGUELLO WAS IN SOME DECLINE,BECAUSE HE WAS 30 YEARS OLD, 80 FIGHTS, 20TH CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTS, AGAINST MANY TOUGHT MEN.ALEXIS WAS IN HIS PRIME BACK IN 1979 OR 1978.HE WAS FASTER AND WITH BETTER REFLEXES. I´M NOT SAYING THAT HE COULD HAVE BEAT PRYOR IF HE WOULD HAVE FACED 3 YEARS EARLIER. BUT PRYOR WOULD HAD HAD FACED A MORE FASTER ARGUELLO.AND STILL THERE IS SOMETHING FUNNY IN MY MIND, ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THE 13TH AND 14TH ROUNDS.PRYOR WAS VISIBLE TYRED AT THE END OF THE 13TH. BUT AFTER DRINKING THAT"MIRACLE BOTTLE. HE WAS LIKE A FIRE BALL. AND KNOCK PUT ARGUELLO.

 | Johnny Roulette (3) 01/12/2001 | There have been few, if any, fights more exciting to watch than Pryor vs. Alexis Arguello. Maddmarxx already said what I was going to say about finishing fights.

 | maddmarxx (0) 01/09/2001 | One thing that has always aggravated me about boxers,is their ability to finish off their opposition. If Pryor got someone in trouble he was relentless.I have never seen a boxer better than him at finishing a fight.

 | upchuck (0) 01/08/2001 | I think Aaron Pryor was one of the top five (5) all time fighters...He would run across the ring when the initial bell rang and often knocked an opponent out in the first minute...poor management and poor judgement on his part ended his career.
