Blair was a little before my time, by the time I saw him, he was a seldom used spare part with The Yankees and Reds in the late 70's. In his prime, he was a legendary fielder, and though really just an ordinary hitter, he did have some power. A part of some great Orioles clubs, I remember reading somewhere that he was never the same after a beaning in the early 70's.

Paul Blair is the greatest defensive centerfielder in major league history. You can make an argument for Willie Mays or Joe DiMaggio, but even Phil Rizzuto said Blair was better defensively than both of them.
