Tigers legend, HOF'er, and one of the best players in the league during his prime, actually underrated, and unfairly seldom mentioned outside of Detroit anymore when the topic of great players of the period is discussed . By all accounts a classy gentleman and an institution in Detroit.

I saw Al Kaline play when I was just a young boy in 1968, the year the Tigers won the Worlds Series. I wrote Al a letter asking for his autograph. I recived a autographed picture, not even a month later. He was my first baseball hero. That year I started my scrap book on Al and the Detroit Tigers. He was a class act, one of the best right fielders to play the game.

A great player who might be in therapy today;when he was offered the first hundred thou salary in Tiger history-he said he wasn't worth it.

the best rightfielder I ever saw. Kaline was the closest player to DiMaggio in style and effortless grace. I often woner what his final stats would have been had he not missed three years due to all the injuries he had
