I always enjoyed watching Winfield play, even with the hated Yankees. He was a terrific all-around athlete, drafted by football and basketball teams too. Many fine years with The Padres and Yankees, before finishing up with several other teams. Steinbrenner's behavior toward him was outrageous. A HOF 'er who could hit, run, and field and a class act with lots of commendable charity work.
