3.5. A good hitter, especially in the context of the time- a pitcher's era. Had quite a few fine years with Montreal, The Mets, and The Tigers. Became a good pinch hitter the 2nd time around with The Mets in the early 80's. Staub was really the first big star the Expos had, even though being an expansion team meant they were awful for a while. Very popular with the largely French Canadian fans of the team , who called the redhead Staub "Le Grand Orange."
