Mean, not afraid to knock you down, but a truly great postseason performer, one of the greatest of all time in fact. Great fastball, perhaps only Koufax at his peak was faster or better in the 60's. Awesome pitcher, a slam dunk HOF'er, that '68 season, even considering it as a great pitcher's era is absolutely superb.

Gibson what can you say the Bill Russell of Baseball. The ultimate competitor. If you saw him pitch during the 1968 World Series you would realize how great!

Most intimidating pitcher ever. 1.12 ERA in '68, are you kidding!

Toughest to hit. Most intimidating ever.

Threw hard and had very good control for a fireballer. He was a headhunter, but at least he played in a league, unlike Clemens, where he had to get into the batter's box himself. Very competitive, consistent, disciplined. Was highly respected by his peers, and that tells you alot. Didn't choke in the post season. Gibson was one the best righthanders during an era when pitchers ruled. Again, Rich Davis is displaying his ignorance.

The meanest guy I ever saw pitch, and one of the greatest ever. As tboneya said, if you really needed a pitcher for one game, this would be the go to guy.

Sorry Bob, you were good, but not that good.
