none of the pre 1947 players will EVER get more than 3 stars from me. They didn't play against ALL of the best players! Somo Americans were not allowed to play..3 stars at best for all of them..he gets 4 tho becuase 511 wins is unbelievable!

For his time he was the best . Never had a great era but lots of wins and not many so's either.

Ok, the numbers are real impressive and will likely never be surpassed, but bear in mind most of them were racked up in an era that favoured pitchers to a grotesque degree, and a lot of wins came against teams that were little better than good minor league contenders. I'm not saying he was a bad pitcher, mind, I'm just saying that the win figure is a touch misleading. Clearly this was a great pitcher, but I honestly doubt that he ranks in the top ten all time.

Simply the greatest pitcher that ever lived.
