A big game, gutsy pitcher, won Series with the D-Backs and Red Sox, and has had some great years. Lots of strikeouts over the years. Started out as an underachiever, and something of a journeyman, then had fine years followed by mediocre or even rather bad ones with Philly, before truly becoming a force with Arizona, where he formed half of a great 1-2 punch with Randy Johnson.

A lowdown dirty shame to see the D'backs send him on his way, but good to see him get another ring, especially with that bum ankle.

For brains, guts and control you have to like this guy. More than a little solid come October, and the team guy to end team guys. I don't think he's better than top twenty material, but that's pretty damn good. One of those guys who, when he knows his stuff is gone, he throws his heart instead. He doesn't just walk of the mound and weep.
