Good player who was even better after his famous surgery. Almost gets dissed nowadays, but from all accounts a likeable guy, and a very fine starter for a long time, though he kinda lingered on a little too long, to the point where he should've just hung 'em up a few years before he did.

Much respect for Tommy. Here was a guy who had to adapt to a new approach to pitching following his elbow surgery, (ala Frank Tananna). Had the best knuckleball this side of Phil Niekro. Very inspiring and storied career.
