Underrated, possibly because he almost lost as many games as he won, in part to playing on some pretty wretched teams with The Tigers later on. A physically big guy, the hero of the 68 Series with 3 victories, struck out a lot of guys, and had some seasons with 20 wins or more. Also briefly played with The Mets.

A great pitcher and a classy guy, especially when compared to his criminally inclined teamate Denny McClain. His performance in 68 World Series was amazing, but not quite as good as Gibsons' in 67 (3 CG, 3 ER). Still a revered figure in Detroit, and with good reason.
