Like the closers of his time, he was a durable pitcher but people forget that baseball labored for years with the stigma that bringing in a reliver was a bad thing. This was still present in the seventies. Minus the moustache, Charlie Finley and the rest of the A's, would he be at the top of this list?

Fingers was a schools out caliber closer. He was such a valuable member of those great Oakland A's teams of the 1970s, and then led the moribund Brewers to the World Series. One of the few relievers to win a Cy Young and be in the Hall of Fame.
