I like going to Elixir! One time we were sittin in a booth just chatting away and ended up making two new furry friends. Jumped right up and sat with us. I like the dog-friendliness of it here! It is a ton better since it was renovated which probably helps.

Elixir went through a huge facelift for the better with the management change a few years ago. It's actually a nice place to drink now. This bar is really dog friendly, and there will usually be a few dogs hanging out in there. There's an excellent build your own bloody mary bar on Sundays, and they subscribe to most of the major sports season passes, so it's a good, chill place to watch a game. It's almost always pretty empty, as I am the only person who lives in the Mission and also likes sports.

I'm not surprised at the poor rating left by Magellan... Jack's Elixir (now called just Elixir) used to be quite the skanky dive. No longer! New ownership has resurrected a classic neighborhood institution! There has been a bar here continuously since at least 1893... one of the longest standing bars in SF. Newly renovated, the amazing mahogany backbar and friendly staff really give this place a warm, cozy feel. Although not necessarily the coolest spot in the 'hood... it definitely makes for a great place to hangout and chat.
