I went to the shop the other day and spoke with the owner, Les and he told me what my car needed in under three minuets! I also told him that I was on a fixed income and could not afford to pay a whole lot for the repairs. Les told me that he would work with me and not too worry about it. I felt so relaxed. He fixed my Porsche that same day. First he gave me a ride to La jolla and on the way stopped and bought me a nice lunch! What a nice young fellow!

La Mesa Muffler and Brakes - Five Star Rating - Positive ReviewsHonesty and attention to detail are his best qualitiesRick the owner of La Mesa Muffler and Brakes has been a great mechanic in which he really nows his stuff. He is not just another muffler and brake guy. He's your neighborhood friend. Good staff... Highly recommended either in the neighborhood or from across town. Don't go here! I've taken my car back several times! My muffler broke before the catalytic converter so I took my car here and they told me a new catalytic converter was needed $300. After a few days it started rattling and so I brought it back and the owner repaired his mistake free of charge. 4 months later while smogging the car, the smog tech tells me the catalytic is no good. Took it back to La Mesa muffler, he explained that there were new laws in 2009 regarding new converters so I was SOL because I purchased the converter Dec 2008. No warranty or insurance on a 4 month converter!!! So he gave me a $50 discount, but still came out to over $500. It has now been 1 month since and yesterday a loud sound is jetting out from under the car and again his crappy weld job broke and im back to square one. I bet he's gonna want to install another catalytic converter!!!Also, I was informed that he get's atleast $100 for recycling each converter.

This is the worst place to take your car. The part they installed on my car broke again after only 4 months, and they did not accept any guarantee.
Don't waste your money and time by going there. And if you did, do ask them for written evidence of guarantee.

This owner charged my Mastercard twice for a brake job in December and, after almost five months, still refuses to apply a credit to my Mastercard account. He has made a number of invaled excuses as to why he cannot. I have spend hours attempting to collect the $563.76 owed me and now must pursue a court action in Small Claims court. I signed only one authorization for $563.76 and was billed an additional $563.77. The invoice also shows $563.76
