After spending the weekend visiting my ailing grandma in San Diego, I went to VIOC for an oil change just before the long drive home to San Francisco. My experience while there was pleasant enough. The guys that worked there seemed friendly and honest. However, my problems with VIOC didn't start until I was 150 miles on the road into my 500 mile trip. While on I405 North, just prior to where it reconnects to I5 (for those who are familiar with the stretch, its right before Magic Mountain). While driving a warning icon (large red triangle with an exclamation point in the middle) periodically came on and off the dash board. This icon was twice as large as most of the other icons located on the dashboard. Promptly I consulted. It quickly became apparent that the warning light was serious and needed immediate attention. I located the closest Toyota dealership (Frontier Toyota in Valencia - might I add that they have been absolutely wonderful throughout my ordeal with VIOC and an excellent review is coming). Toyota quickly deduced that I did not have any oil in my engine, despite having my oil changed 3 hours ago. It appears that VIOC does not know how to properly change oil as (1) They tightened/torque the drain plug too much causing gasket to break and leak oil; (2) They either forgot to put a gasket on the new oil filter or didn't notice that the gasket was missing; (3) They overfilled the oil and flooded the engine... To be continued... this happened just yesterday and I'm dealing with the incident. Let's just say, I'm in a rental car, my car is 6 hours away, and I am not sure how or when I will get my car back. The VIOC's claims manager is giving me the run around and I am at a loss of words... I'll keep you posted.
