Not only was Chaucer the great, great Granddaddy of English Literature he was also pretty funny too. If the Millar and the Reaves Tales are a bit too dirty for you (and they are pretty filthy) then read the wife of Baths'. Talk about an independant woman! Importantly, Chaucer said that 'the tale is in the teller'. The man was a god.
