Vioxx is used to treat osteoarthritis and is also used as a pain reliever. Merck was forced to remove Vioxx from stores on 9/30/04 due to serious health risks associated with the drug.

I have a friend that suffers from osteoarthritis who used to swear by Vioxx - apparently it was the only stuff that worked for him. It goes without saying that he's not too happy Vioxx was pulled - and also not happy that there is apparently a health risks like stroke and heart attack associated with Vioxx...
