May possibly be my favorite of all the classic Disney animated features. The artwork is beautiful with the usual fantastic attention to detail (I've never noticed the continuity problem irish mentioned, but I'll have to check it out on my copy some time). I do recall, watching it as a child, how amazed I was at the realistic way the raindrops looked dripping off leaves after the storm. I also adore the voices they used for the baby animals, especially Thumper. I still can't take the scene where Bambi loses his mother...but I think it would make a wonderful film loop to be shown eternally to all people who get their jollies blowing animals away.

Mmmmmm, venison. I never liked this movie, even as a kid. When I saw it as an adult with my kids, all I could notice were the continuity problems. (Grouse and rabbits disappearing, etc.)

You will notice that there is a mistake in this movie- a raccoon moved all of a sudden from left to right when the animals escaped to an island during the blaze. This mistake does not matter as the animals are proprtional and the story is situated totally on life in the forest. It is strange to me that Bambi, Thumper and Flower look much cuter when they are older. It certainly is a good one to see despite the death of his mom. It is a simple movie to understand that we should leave nature the way it is and to protect it.

Along with The Lion King, this was my favorite Disney film as a kid. Very well done.

Probally one of the most depressing films of all time.
