Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) still stands as one of the paramount writers of German fiction and European Romanticism. A German writer, Goethe was actually embraced by all over Europe and even published some of his work in English and French. Goethe is most widely known for his book Faust, a story of one man tempted by a pact he made with the devil. It should also be noted that aside from writing, Goethe was also an accomplished politician, humanist, scientist, and philosopher.
