 | UrethraMiacin (4) 06/28/2008 | Good looking but mediocre actor. He will best be remembered for his real life marriage to Gomer Pyle in the early '70s.

 | ma duron (62) 09/07/2005 | As much as Rock Hudson's early vehicles were not much different from Tony Curtis', Jeff Chandler's and George Nader's escapist adventures for Universal Studios, there are in his filmography several worthwhile performances other than those under director George Stevens' overrated 'Giant' (1956) - in which Hudson was purposeful but miscast - and in Michael Gordon's delightful 'Pillow Talk' (1959).
Go no further than comedies such as 'Come September' (Robert Mulligan, dir., 1961), 'Lover Come Back' (Delbert Mann, dir.,1962), and 'Man's Favorite Sport?' (Howard Hawks, dir., 1964) to discover Hudson at his best as a screwball comedian in the tradition of a Cary Grant.
You may dismiss soapers such as 'Magnificent Obsession' (1954), 'All That Heaven Allows' (1955) that director Douglas Sirk helmed for Universal but should take on Hudson in Sirks' more serious projects, 'Written on the Wind' (1957) or 'The Tarnished Angels' (1958), instead; and in dramas, such as Robert Aldrich's Freudian Western, 'The Last Sunset' (1961) and, in John Frankenheimer's chilling suspenser 'Seconds' (1966), Hudson left an imprint of satisfying performances.

 | Moosekarloff (18) 09/22/2003 | Very good in "Pillow Talk," and a commendable performance in "Giant," but the rest is just so-so. Very good looking man who just didn't have much depth as an actor, and as such, wasn't particularly convincing.

 | TheFreak (3) 10/13/2001 | The main reason I like him is that after he died of AIDS, the light went on in Ronald Reagan's head. Thank you, Rock, for that! He did some good movies, too, and his acting skills were terrific. I'd like to see more of Hudson. Does anyone have any movies to recommend that feature him? Please send me a personal message if you do. Cause the only ones I've seen are Giant and Pillow talk. Anyway, I feel bad for anyone who dies of AIDS, so may Rock Hudson rest in peace where no Ronald Stupid Reagan can give him trouble. Take care, everyone!

 | Molfan (59) 09/06/2001 | Good actor. I remember him mostly from the movies he did with Doris Day.And from MacMillan and Wife. He had a sort of charm to him. I agree with Castlebee that it is too bad that he has to be remembered for dying of Aids.

 | CastleBee (83) 09/05/2001 | Rock Hudson was a very versatile actor whose performances were nearly always enjoyable. From "Giant" to "Pillow Talk" he could believably accomplish drama or light romantic comedy equally as well. I didn't much care for some of his later movies or TV work, but that had more to do with the subject matter than his abilities as an actor. Sadly, future generations may remember him as much for his tragic end and for being the first high profile person to die of AIDS, as they will for his acting career.
